06/10/2013 – South West Regional League 1

Saints 44 V Poole 50

Following the Juniors’ success on Saturday Poole Regional Squad travelled to Cornwall to take on last years South West champions Saints. The girls were missing captain and GS Sarah Jones so it was Elisha Hill’s debut match adding to the pressure on the attack with our GA Lucinda Leaton being just 14 years of age! Poole took the court with speed and accuracy storming ahead. Elisha’s first few shots were spectacular in converting to goal. This was the work of Zoe Collins in at WD; Poole closed down Saints centre pass time and time again – a good place to turnover as we had to stop the ball from meeting the end third and going into their ex England 6.4ft shooter!!

The first half closed 12-16 to Poole but the second quarter was not as clear cut. The game opened up both ends, Saints found their confidence in feeding Amelia Grigg GS whose shooting stats were incredible and things got a bit hairy in our attack – a few unforced errors into the circle left the score at half time 22-21, Poole just edging ahead.

Returning to the combination of the first quarter in the pivotal third saw a calmer and patient Poole side, the ball was being played around in attack and turnovers were being taken on their centre pass as Saints had not managed to correct this; Poole’s centre court defence was on top form. The third finished 39-29, a more comfortable lead to go into the forth.

The final quarter Poole started to show signs of fatigue but managed to keep hold of their lead. The game finished 50-44.

Congratulations to Elisha Hill awarded Player of the Match

29/09/2013 – South West Regional League 1

Aquarians 46 V Poole 30

Aquarians played host to their local rivals Poole in a pulsating and absorbing match where local pride and bragging rights were up for grabs. There was a fast and furious opening to the match as both teams looked to stamp their authority on the game early on. The play moved from one end of the court to the other with some extremely fluid and quick passing movements. One or …two stray passes from Poole in the attacking quarter gave Aquarians the upper hand and with their GS in fine form the score at the end of the quarter was Aquarians 13 to Poole’s 4. The second quarter began with Aquarians keen to extend their lead and, with tireless work being put in by the impressive GA coupled with some excellent link up play mid court, it looked as if that would be the case. But Poole was showing grit and determination and weathered the storm to get a foothold back in the game. Poole’s GS who was having no luck in the first quarter began to find her range and thankfully her fortunes improved. Poole were forcing Aquarians into errors and at half time the score had been narrowed slightly to 23-16 with Poole winning the quarter by 12 points to 10. Play continued end to end after the short half time interval and it was a close, tight opening to the quarter. Poole continued to both improve and impress as they worked hard to reduce the deficit. At one point, mid quarter, they had reduced the gap to just 5 points and were looking the stronger side as it looked as if the last quarter would begin with all to play for. But unfortunately for Poole two quick goals from Aquarians opened up the lead again as they ran out 11-10 winners of the quarter to leave the match score at Aquarians 34 v Poole 26. The final quarter matched the first quarter as Aquarians stormed away from Poole by scoring 5 goals without reply early on.  The intensity and speed they showed was as impressive as it had been early on in the match and the battling Poole ladies had little answer to their opponents.  Aquarians had their tails up by now and were showing no sign of the fatigue that had begun to hinder Poole.  They piled on attack after attack and ended up winning the quarter by 12 points to 4, therefore winning the match 46-30. There was a large crowd up in the viewing gallery and the match, despite it being a local derby, was played in excellent spirit. All in all it was a superb advert for Netball and left the feeling that both teams would enjoy a successful season.

22/09/2013 – South West Regional League 1

Crossbow 30 V POOLE 49

A great start to the season for our Regional 1 squad. The girls came out on form in Bristol taking the first goal after a turnover in defence and built on it there on in. The first quarter saw our girls dig deep to finish 14-9 up. The second was a struggle as fatigue set in, the middle looked loose and square balls let opponents Crossbow back into the game as the second quarter opened. The girls p…ulled back to close the first half 24-17. Going into the 3rd with confidence Poole kept building to extend their lead, the team pulled it together, Lucinda Leaton at GA and Sarah Jones GS achieved a more cohesive partnership and the goals were flying through the net!! The 3rd quarter closed convincingly with a 37-22 lead. Into the 4th the girls kept momentum, the defence stopped the feed, Abi Robson took flying interceptions from all over the back third to help the attack through to goal. The girls eventually took the game 49-30!! Congratulations to Abi Robson who was awarded Player of the Match.

07/07/2013 – Maureen Bruce Tournament

Well done to Poole Emeralds winning the Maureen Bruce Tournament today. They won all their matches and brought home the gold!

29/06/2013 – Touring friendly v Reigate

A great friendly game against Reigate Netball who were on tour!! A very hot day but both teams had loads of fun on the court, we hope the GA from Reigate gets better soon as she landed and twisted her knee. Poole triumphed with a win with a… mix of girls from Topaz, Opals, Jewels, Pearls, Diamonds and our guest player Sarah Jones from our regional team!! Well done girls. Thanks to Chloe and Karen for umpiring. Also big thanks to Reigate for the lovely cakes and oranges!

Result:  Poole Regional 68 v Carol Anne 51

26/04/2013 – South West Regional League 2

Poole Regional Squad take on Carol Anne tomorrow in the final game of the season at Talbot Heath. The whole season depends on the result of this one match as both teams face one final battle to end the season in second place with a chance of promotion. The pressure is certainly on!!! Poole NC would like to wish the team the best of luck. If any of our girls and their parents are available to support it would be hugely appreciated – the more noise we have on our side, the better!!!

23/04/2013 – Bournemouth Adult League

It was another great night for Poole NC tonight at adult league with Poole Diamonds pulling out a sensational win against Premier Champions Bournemouth 1. The girls worked tirelessly over 4 quarters to eventually win 37-28. Meanwhile on the next court Poole Jewels beat Mavericks 1 46-35 and in Division 3 the Opals beat Scamps 31-20! Excellent set of results tonight Well Done girls!!

21/04/2013 – SW Regional U14 National Play-off Tournament

Poole Diamonds U14 Regional Finals. The girls went to Bath determined to bring home the gold for the club and their coach Hayley Peyman who has worked hard with the girls for the last 4 years. This certainly showed today! Diamonds played strong and consistently throughout the day, any mistakes they made when they lost the ball would see the girls pull together and fight hard to re-turn the ball ba…ck to the attackers to convert into a goal. The strength of the team showed in every second half of each game. After the half time team talk, they would return to the court knowing what they had to do to pull out some amazing scores:

Diamonds won all their games:

Cam Brea Storm 17-3

Hucclecote 17-3

Saints 13-2

Jets 13-1

Lawn 16-4

West Exe 21-6

Exeter 18-3

Diamonds had by far the best defence and goals for.

21/04/2013 –  Bournemouth Junior League

Well done to Poole Rubies on their first match’s at the Bournemouth league today. They played 2 games, one against Canford who beat the Rubies and one against Verwood. Rubies beat Verwood 2-1! Well done girls

Well done to Poole Amethysts in junior league winning their game today against North Dorset 40-12.

20/04/2013 – South West Regional League 2

A small squad of 8 arrived at the venue for our penultimate game against Pinehurst – some of our players were missing due to the match clashing with a pre arranged hen weekend! This showed to be a real squad effort – everyone working very hard for one another. It wasn’t an easy game by any means, but we were always in control.

Abi and Lucinda stepped in to cover players that were unavailable and played way beyond their years. Everyone who played in this game enjoyed it and could have come away with Player Of The Match –  This was awarded to Georgia Poole. Well-done Georgia and well done to all the players who represented us.

Pauline has stated ‘I came away from this match full of pride, especially as Pinehurst had beaten Hucclecote a few weeks ago.

Final Score 46-52 to Poole Hoppers.

13/04/2013 – South West Regional League 2

Congratulations to our Regional Squad today, a great win putting the girls back on course for promotion in the South West League. Poole 49 – Hucclecote 47 It was a tense game throughout; although Poole worked their way to a 12 goal lead at the end of the third quarter this only proved a cushion as Hucclecote were sensational in the forth, capitalising on the lack of fitness amongst our players an…d with 4 minutes to go the opponents got within just 4 goals, to eventually close our lead to just two ahead! Thankfully the hooter blew and the Poole girls were victorious but it was bitter sweet. To give 10 goals back in a single quarter is disappointing but a win against the Hucclecote who deem themselves ‘the South West’s Premier Club’ is always something to be proud of! Well done Girls and to Lucy Phillips awarded Player of the Match

09/04/2013 – Bournemouth Adult League

Our Poole teams have once again made us proud, winning everything for Poole they possibly could!! A VERY BIG WELL DONE to Poole Crystals, Emeralds, Diamonds and Pearls. Keep up the good work!

09/02/2013 – South West Regional League 2

On the eleventh weekend of the South West Regional League, Poole took a small squad of 8 to Bath; the South West Capital of Netball, in the battle to stay in the top three. Poole are hoping to clinch a top-two place and gain another promotion at the end of the season. This season will be an intense fight as our girls are currently in third place; but the pressure is certainly on.

Poole’s Away record is not as strong as it’s Home and the core squad were certainly tested when first choice GS Sarah Jones rolled on her ankle in the opening seconds of the game. The game started slow which wasn’t helped by 5 players changing positions following Sarah’s injury. After a frustrating first quarter, with a lack of assertiveness through the attack the players settled into the game and built their attacking moves up to the circle edge with pace and accuracy; this really helped an injured Lucy Phillips now GS make a quick, short move for the final ball in. Essentially, all the players made a speedy transition between attack / defence when Poole lost possession and regardless of their position, turnover after turnover was made to ensure that Poole could convert to goal. Poole still have some timing issues through mid court which we will now go away and work to improve on, but generally a good performance and a well-deserved scoreline of 56-29. Well Done to Sian Evans, Player of the Match and wishing Sarah Jones a very speedy recovery.

06/02/2013 – Tuesday Night Adult League – Rearranged Match

Well Done Poole Jewels, winning their re-scheduled match to Peeks 44-32. Fight is on for trophy position.

05/02/2013 – Tuesday Night Adult League

It was another good night for the Poole NC teams at Adult League last night; our teams took 3 out of 4 wins as the season draws to a close and the end is finally in sight!! In Division 3 Poole Diamonds beat Bournemouth Ferns 67-12, an exceptional result helping the girls to maintain their ‘best attack’ record across all 10 divisions. Poole Opals beat Bournemouth by 5 in what was a close and well-c…ontested match. Poole Pearls beat Lunar most convincingly as the fight is on to finish in second position and take silver away from HSS. The real match of the night was Poole Jewels v’s Bournemouth 1 in Premier. It was a top of the table fight for first and second position in what was tipped to be an excellent game – spectators were not disappointed! Bournemouth eventually took the win but with a scoreline that did not reflect the game. The Jewels took turnover after turnover, the defence were incredible but sadly Jewels were not able to convert to goal. The Jewels will play Bournemouth for a second time in a couple of weeks and will do there best to ensure they get the right result!

03/02/2013 – Sunday Junior League

Poole Crystals were playing a year up and lost to Poole Emeralds and Verwood – two very tough games. Crystals remain top of their own section, U10’s. Poole Emeralds, despite losing to Canford U11 (who did not rotate positions correctly) remain top of the U11’s League. Poole Diamonds welcomed Lily Pryce back to the squad as preparation for U14 South West Regionals. T…he girls beat Canford 41-2 and North Dorset 35-1. Poole Amethysts also took two big wins to stay at the top of the U16’s. Poole Diamonds travelled to Canford School to play a friendly / practice match. The girls played a combination of Canford U16’s and U19’s. It was lovely to watch, fluid and consistent. The Diamonds won 28-11. Poole Pearls then played their 3rd Regional Match of the season against Devizes from Wiltshire. It was a great display of Netball, the Pearls fought through until the end to eventually win 56-31.

27/01/2013 – Sunday Junior League

Good day of netball as the sun shone and the players took to the court for some big matches. Poole Crystals fought hard to win both their games beating Weymouth 5-1 and Canford U10 5-1. The Crystals played some really good netball and a very well done to Skye who made her debut.

Poole Emeralds faced no issues winning both of their games convincingly in preparation for next weeks’ league decider be…tween Emeralds and Canford.

Next up Diamonds and Amethysts took to the court to pick up the wind against their opponents before playing one another. Both teams highly motivated and wanting the win in very windy conditions. Diamonds won 11-8. In the U16 Regional League Poole Pearls U15 played Bmth. Excellent effort from the entire squad who all played a part in the 62-18 win!! Well done to all involved.

16/01/2013 – Tuesday Night Adult League

Another successful night for our teams who had to go out and brave the cold at last night’s adult league!! Poole Diamonds got off to another slow start, the second week in a row but found good form in the second half, pulling a long way ahead to take a good win.

The Opals were playing on the court next door and were always the favourites; the girls were down to a dead 7 with their Team Manager in… kit ready to save the day! Everyone dug deep to pull another convincing win out of the bag.

On court 3 it was the Pearls going out for 2 out of 2 wins following the Christmas break. The Pearls have been on fantastic form recently and thanks to 6ft shooter Saskia Webster, a real asset their shooting combination has been unstoppable.

In the later session it was the turn of the Jewels to try and defend their top 3 position in Premier. The first quarter saw a lazy, effortless performance as the Jewels came in 3 goals ahead. Going into the second quarter the Jewels decided to start work and play with speed and accuracy. Eventually this helped to produce a very big final scoreline. To compliment this Aquarians and Mazars drew their game, Mazars unlucky not to win after a 9 goal lead. With Aquarians dropping points Jewels have a good chance of remaining in the 2 for another week

13/01/2013 – Poole Netball Club

Well it’s not often Hayley says this but today as she left Talbot Heath this afternoon she was very proud to be Head Coach at Poole NC. The netball packed weekend started yesterday with our Senior Regional Squad, who looked the best they have ever looked and this time round beat Almondsbury 57-41. Congratulations to Lucy Phillips, awarded Player of the Match. Today the U10’s won 2 out of 3 games k…eeping them top of the U10’s section and possibly 3rd in the U11’s league. Our U11’s won both of their matches, our U14’s won both of their matches and our U16’s won both of their matches at Junior League. All of these teams on track for the Gold!! This afternoon our U15’s played against Randwick in the U16’s Regional round and won 46-40!! Congratulations Cameron Jones awarded Player of the Match. Well done to all of our Poole girls on such excellent results.

09/01/2013 – Wednesday Night Adult League

Wednesday it was the turn of our Back to Netballers to face the court and make an after Christmas comeback!! This was a tough game and Poole Topaz only had 6 players – a real shock to the system!! After a very tough game and a very big push from everyone the team were triumphant winning 27-24, an excellent start to 2013!!

08/01/2013 -Tuesday Night Adult League

A quick round up of this weeks events; On Tuesday at Adult League, first out were Pearls v Diamonds. Pearls were fired up and ready to go from the off while Diamonds looked too relaxed. This was reflected through the first 3 quarters, Pearls were strong and their shooting combination was difficult to break. Eventually, after a major fight back from Diamonds in the last quarter Pearls took the game… by 3 goals. Elsewhere Poole Opals were not presented with any real issues from bottom of the table HSM, winning convincingly. Jewels had a nightmare against Hoppers, the shooters were struggling for space in the first quarter and girls couldn’t go up a gear. Jewels managed to half the score but must come out stronger next week.

02/12/2012 – South West Regional League 2

Poole v Pinehurst 64-52 Win

Poole notched another win in their 6th match of the South West Regional League. Following their BIG scoreline to Lawn 2 weeks ago, Poole needed another good win to ensure they stay hot on the heels of Exeter; who are currently top having played one additional fixture. The match was a close encounter, with Poole starting stronger than their opponents, although not at their best, to pull away to an 8 goal lead. Long balls were being launched into GS Sarah Jones which meant court play was often untidy and lacked fluidity. The centre court combination were having to work really hard to keep the turnovers coming but the lack of movement to the attacking circle edge was disappointing and the ball was being fed too early indicating lack of fitness, a fair point with Sian Evans and Lucy Phillips playing through injury / illness.

Pinehurst were disruptive in the second quarter, their Coach had clearly identified weaknesses in the Poole team and our opponents capitilised on this. Despite GS Sarah Jones, Captain of the team being absolutely on form the balls being thrown into her were frequently picked out by the Pinehurst defence who were taking a tighter marking position, it became frustrating to watch. Late in the second quarter as the score became tight, Poole resorted to playing netball, they were beginning to pull together, moving the ball at pace and ended the 15 minutes in a better frame of mind but with a score of 34-30 to Poole.

Poole pushed on in the third quarter, the Pinehurst GS held the front position very nicely and with the added benefit of her height it was proving difficult for Poole’s defensive players to get round and put the pressure on. GK Rachael Collins was instructed to change her marking stance to take the front position; therefore putting more pressure on the feed in. This changed the game and Rachael was able to pick some great balls out of the air at key moments which the Poole attacking combination were able to take own the court and convert. This helped Poole to increase their lead at the end of the third to 51-44.

Going into quarter four 7 goals up Poole’s lead was credible and it was the turn of Coach Hayley Peyman to make one final change, moving India Phillips into the circle defence. India played really well with Rachael and the two of them were pivotal in increasing the lead to take the match 64-52. Despite everyone’s efforts the play by Sarah Jones was sensational; her circle play was outstanding and her shooting was consistently accurate throughout; a deserved winner of Player of the Match. The win takes Poole to second place with a game in hand, behind group leaders Exeter. The Poole team have to beat Hucclecote away this weekend to finish at the top with Exeter, at the halfway point.

27/11/2012 Tuesday Night Adult League

Poole Jewels v Mazars 56-21 Win
Poole Opals v Lunar 40-46 Lost

Poole Jewels beat Mazars with a spectacular result to hit the top spot in Prem! The game kicked off at mid pace; errors and misplaced passes from both sides was not the sharp, fiery start we had expected in what was anticipated to be an intense game. Louise Cole and Georgia Ivey worked strongly from the start, preventing the Mazar’s attack from making the comfortable feeds into their very static GS. Poole’s defensive unit played impressively throughout with some spectacular interceptions, turning the ball in our favour, to keep pushing possession forward into Megan Hale in at GA (usually WD) and Tabby Hellawell. During the game there were missed shots from both sides, but despite some average play at times, goal difference increased with Poole leading by 16 goals and in a comfortable position going into the final quarter. The Jewels settled in to the forth quarter nicely, picking up speed towards the end to finish with a 56-21 win, keeping our girls at the top of Prem!

Elsewhere Poole Opals played Lunar in Division 3; the Opals were missing players so Poole Topaz player and Club Treasurer Lil Corani was forced to pull out her netball trainers for the second week in a row!! The team worked really hard in the first half, Lil even managed a flying interception, but it was too big an ask for the players to continue at this pace for an hour and eventually they dropped off, losing the game 46-40.

Poole Pearls played bottom of the division, Bournemouth Ferns. The Pearls were not really challenged, giving coach Pauline Kenward the opportunity to practice combinations in preparation for the U16 South Wests. The Pearls finished the game with a big scoreline followed by birthday cakes to celebrate Pauline’s 60th Birthday!

25/11/2012 – Sunday Junior Winter League

Poole NC Junior Teams Remain TOP Of the Tables!!

Poole Crystals had to win against Canford U10’s on Sunday to ensure they remained on course for the U10 trophy at the end of the season. The girls were missing key players Emily and Grace, which saw the girls struggle in the first half to move the ball out of their defensive third. When the players pulled together as a unit they were much sharper going forward than their opponents and with accurate shooting from Megan and Lydia the girls won 2-0. Poole Emeralds remain unbeaten so far this season; the girls won their opening game agianst Bournemouth 7-0 and went on to beat Poole Crystals, convincingly in their second match to stay top of the U11’s section. In the later session Canford U16 conceeded to Poole Diamonds U14 so the Diamonds only had one game to play – arguably the biggest clash of the season: Poole Diamonds U14 v’s Poole Amethysts U16. The Amethysts are a fairly new Poole team, but to-date have won all of their Junior League matches. Neither team had dropped points until Sunday but it was the Diamonds who had the success, showing determination and experience to take the game 12-3. The Amethysts went on to beat Blue Jays 30-9 and remain top of the U16 section. Thanks to all involved.

20/11/2012 – Tuesday Night Adult League

Poole Jewels v Canford  43-37 Win
Poole Diamonds v Sydling Saints  61-14 Win
Poole Opals v Poole Pearls  Pearls Win

The first set of matches at the Bournemouth Adult League last night belonged to Division 3. Poole Diamonds, determined to protect their place at the top of the division, opened their game to Sydling Saints with power and pace from the off. The game began perfectly as the Diamonds took a 19-1 lead at the close of the first quarter. However the Diamonds were not able to match / exceed the scoreline through the following 3 quarters, highlighting that there is work to be done with the team to keep the players focused. Lily Lloyd GS, a new recruit for the Diamonds continues to be brought through as part of the 1st team, but movement in the attacking circle was not as fluid as it has been previously and the attacking unit was far from perfect. The girls eventually took the win 61-14, another good scoreline but with room for improvement!

Meanwhile on the next court it was a clash between two Poole Teams; Opals v’s Pearls. Opals were missing key players which saw Lil Corani and Donna Loveless make their debut in division 3; playing up from Division 8!! Well done for being brave ladies, hope you don’t ache too much today – you have another match tonight!! The Opals seemed to really enjoy last night’s match, but the Pearls sharp play, with a full squad helped them pick up a convincing win over the Opals.  The Pearls now go 1 point ahead of the Opals in the table!

In the later session Poole Jewels took to the court in Premier to play newly-promoted Canford to try to retain their joint-top position. The Jewels needed a big scoreline in order to jump above Aquarians in the league; the two teams are tied on points at the top but Aquarians have a better Goal Difference. Jewels had a peculiar night, they did not play to their usual standard and at times it was frustrating to watch. The girls struggled to thread the ball through the attack and make the feed to Tabby and Elisha up front; who were not shooting the ball with their usual level of accuracy until the final quarter. The Jewels were only 3 up after the 3rd quarter but looked stronger toward the end to take the win 43-37. Next week’s match is set to be much tougher as the Jewels will play their long-term rivals, Mazars.

Poole Topaz v Blue Boltz  29 – 25 Win

Two wins in a row for Poole Topaz, our Back to Netball team puts them clear of relegation. Poole Topaz faced on-going rivals Blue Boltz in division 7 last night. The last few clashes between these teams have been tight but Blue Boltz have always come away victorious. Poole Topaz needed a win to push them above Blue Boltz in the division and keep them safely out of the relegation fight! Topaz did not disappoint, our ladies took it away going 5-0 up and managed to close each quarter as the winning team. At the final whistle Topaz won the match 29-25. It was a great comeback for Coach Alison Rideout and a very big well done to Helen Strain, awarded Player of the Match.

Well done girls you are doing us proud. Elsewhere in Division 3 Opals beat Bournemouth Ferns 42-16, Pearls had a tough game and HSS took it from them in the final quarter; Pearls were eventually defeated 44-37! 11/11/2012 – Sunday Junior Winter League

Wow!! A sensational weekend of netball for Poole NC.

After an incredible win on Saturday our Juniors went out Sunday to defend the winning title across every age group in the West Dorset Junior League. It was a positive start to the morning, the sun was shining and all of our teams were in good spirits.

Poole Crystals (U10) were first out, scheduled to play two U11 games. The Crystals, playing a year up lost the first of their matches to North Dorset 3-1, Hayley described the score line as disappointing but is confident that it won’t take much to put the Crystals ahead. In the second game however, the Crystals really pulled it together and made a comeback against Weymouth U11. The girls had their biggest win to date, 6-1 and are on track to win the U10 section!!

On the adjacent court Poole Emeralds (U11) took on Verwood and won 9-2, followed by an inexperienced Canford U10 team. Canford were beaten by our Emeralds 16-0!! In the later session Poole Diamonds (U14) faced Weymouth. This was an excellent debut for new player Lily Lloyd who shot accurately throughout. Diamonds were victorious beating Weymouth 29-1 followed by a win against North Dorset 34-0.

Poole Amethysts remain on course for the gold in the U16 section, after beating North Dorset 35-2 and Blue Jays 36-2. Once again, some fantastic results girls – well done and thank you for being so committed!

10/11/2012 – South West Regional League 2

Poole Hoppers v Lawn 76 – 30 Win

An emphatic win for Poole puts our Regional Squad back on the top spot!! Poole Hoppers went out all guns blazing at Saturday’s Home Regional fixture against Lawn from Wiltshire, after a disappointing draw last week in Plymouth.

In the pre-match team talk Hayley had asked the girls to focus on keeping the first quarter tight to allow us to understand the opponents gameplay and pull away in the 2nd, but our girls surpassed themselves to close the first quarter 23-6!!!  Georgia Ivey, Rachael Collins and Abigail Robson three of our key defensive players were absent from the game and we had questioned whether Lawn may begin to use their attack to weave their way through.

Poole went into the 2nd a little over-confident, losing possession through over-thrown balls and unforced errors but defensively became a tighter unit – taking turnovers before the ball even got to their circle. Towards the end of the first half the girls had built their game back up, Georgia P and Sian producing incisive feeds into Sarah and Lucy which helped to extend Poole’s lead 41-14. Both teams made changes at half time; Megan Hale was rested in preparation for a strong finish in the forth and Lawn’s GA, Amy Prior the player who proved most difficult to take out of the game, moved into C. Poole had re-focused, they were motivated by the idea that they could improve their Goal Average and kept pushing. The movement was sharp and our shooting duo regularly found themselves in space to pull further clear to a 58-25 advantage.

Going into the forth there were no changes to the shooting combination as momentum was continued from the 3rd quarter. There was nothing our opponents could do to stop Sarah and Lucy who were not missing. Poole dominated play and wanted to achieve their target set at half time; to score 80 goals. Megan Hale, now WA with Georgia were pushing the ball forward into the circle at pace, their feeds were fluent. Lawn were struggling to control possession, Indi and Kazz had quickly grasped how to work together in defence and India’s long balls off the backline was instrumental to us moving the ball down to the shooters within 3-4 passes, helping to extend the lead. The return to Regional action for Poole NC player Megan Hale was a huge positive for the home side as she regularly showed her NTL/Excel class with her sensational speed and anticipation. At the final whistle, Poole were elated with their win 76-30, the biggest scoreline to date in the South West League. Congratulations to Megan Hale who was awarded Player of the Match.

02/11/2012 – South West Regional League 2

Plymouth Marjon v Poole Hoppers 40 – 40 Draw

On Saturday Poole NC’s Regional Squad travelled to Plymouth to try to continue forward with their recent winning streak and defend their place at the top of the league. Poole struggled to field a team, taking a dead 7, which included Poole Diamonds U14 player Abi Robson – who again played a sensational game beyond her years. In a tense and incredibly physical game, Plymouth showed determination; Poole in the first half looked the stronger of the sides, but by the end of the 3rd quarter Plymouth had stepped it up a gear and taken the lead by 7!!! Poole knew what they had to do – at the very least they needed to get within 5 for the extra point. So often it is reported by others that our club players are at their best when they are down – they always come back fighting and Saturday was no exception. In the last quarter, after a pivotal change our players came back with a vengence. Courtplay was more fluid and 100% shooting stats for both Lucy and Sarah bought it to an exciting close. The girls managed to pull the score back to a draw and as Lucy lifted the ball to take the winning shot the final whistle was blown. The draw puts Poole into second place but we are confident that we will again see the top spot this season!! Congratulations to Lucy Phillips who was awarded Player of the Match – i think we all agree this was deservedly so. Well Done Luc!

Poole Topaz – American Tournament

Congratulations to Poole Topaz our Back to Netball Team who came Runners Up in their first ever American Tournament, last night at Sir David English. After a bad start, losing to Bmth our Poole ladies were on good form throughout the tournament and took win after win!! Poole NC’s Back to Netball is growing all the time. If you or someone you know wants to have a go all you have to do is turn up! Training Sessions are every Monday at Ashdown Leisure Centre, 7-8.30pm.

23/10/2012 – Tuesday Night Adult League

A great Night for Poole Jewels last night who retain second position in Premier after beating Peeks. The girls had their first Centre Pass turned over and Peeks converted. In the opening minutes it was end to end but at the close of the first quarter the Jewels took the lead 14-8. At half time the girls managed to keep their lead, however by the end of the 3rd quarter Peeks had pulled it back to a draw.

The Jewels did what they are best at and dug in to take the win by 8 goals! The Diamonds in Division 3 had a BYE and the Pearls game was cancelled due to an issue with the courts. In the second round of matches; division 3, Opals faced HSS and needed a win to stay in a promotion spot. The opposition were very physical and most of their players lived up to their reputation. The Opals kept working through to the end, but eventually lost the game by 5 goals.

20/10/2012 – South West Regional 2 League

Poole Hoppers  v Exeter 59 – 51 Win

Congratulations to our Senior Regional Squad who took victory and won all 5 points on Saturday against an unbeaten Exeter side to go TOP in the South West League. Exeter took to the court with confidence, strength and height at either end with Yasmin Hodge-England; recently selected for the England U19 Long Squad, playing in at GD and ex NTL Team South player AJay in at GS – this was proof enough that we were to witness an exciting game flowing with speed and accuracy, both teams showing the will to win.

Our Poole players showed great team spirit; losing was never an option but they needed to show this self-belief as a team and put it into action. After a tight opening quarter finishing 14-14, a pivotal coaching decision was made to bring Abigail Robson on to play her debut regional fixture – the youngest player to play in the SW League!! After a tentative start, Abi quickly got into the match and kept an experienced shooter under control taking several turnovers in a row to help us take the lead by 1 goal at half time: 29-28. It was clear to see that Poole were starting to settle into the game.

The third quarter; the most important saw our girls stage a sensational performance, with a talented shooting unit, we were converting all the time; the girls stepped it up and with a change in Exeter’s shooting combination, the defence were able to increase their turnover rate to help put us ahead 45-40. Going into the forth and final quarter it was important that we stopped Exeter getting within 5 goals and taking points; this required concentration and focus. Once ahead the Home team piled on the pressure to win the game 59-51, an excellent performance by all, but a special well done goes to Lucy Phillips our GA who was also accredited with Player of the Match.

This is Poole’s first season in the Regional League and we are in this to compete. It was our goal to finish in the top half but we are exceeding expectation and now we need to give everything to try and ensure we finish top two to guarantee promotion.

16/10/2012 – Tuesday Night Adult League

Poole Jewels v Poole Yamaha  83 – 18 Win
Poole Diamond v Lunar 64 – 20 Win

Well done to ALL of our Poole Teams at league last night – it was a clean sweep with some incredible results. First out were the Jewels whose squad was at full strength with the return of Elisha and Megan. The girls dominated across the court, and the confidence in their shooting to finish took them to an 83-18 win, their best ever result in Prem. In Division 3 the Opals played Sydling Saints – at times the score got close, but the Opals were never down and in the the last quarter they pulled away to win by 10! On the court next to the Opals the Pearls were playing Bournemouth, similarly the scores were tight through the quarters, but the Pearls kept composure to take the win by 7 goals. At the far end, Poole Diamonds were on fire against Lunar, Lunar in previous seasons have been strong against Poole but with a 64-20 win the girls really did show the level of improvment. Lunar congratulated the girls on their gameplay and awarded their player of the match to GS Alyce Peaty. Hayley had earlier said to Alyce that it was the best game she had played to-date. Well Done everyone – same again next week!!

13/10/2012 – South West Regional 2 League

Poole Hoppers  v Bournemouth 47 – 40 Win

Another win for Poole Hoppers on Saturday, puts our Regional Squad in 3rd position. BIG game this week, we need all of you to show Poole NC your support. If we beat Exeter Saturday, Talbot Heath, 11.30am we will be in promotion position. Hayley would like to see you all there!!

09/10/2012 – Tuesday Night Adult League

Poole Jewelsv Grasshoppers     30 – 21 Win
Poole Diamonds v Poole Pearls  49 – 29 Win

Another good week for Poole NC at League on Tuesday. Poole Jewels were missing 1st team shooter Elisha Hill due to injury and Louise Cole in defence. The girls faced an experienced Grasshoppers 1 who were also suffering with injury, but nevertheless always come out fast and strong. The Jewels played consistently well through 3 quarters – battling to keep their tight lead. It was a magnificent display of netball until the end of the 3rd quarter when Lucy Phillips, Grasshoppers Goal Attack went down injured. At this point Grasshoppers were forced to conceed the game with the score still standing; Poole Jewels took the win 30-21. Congratulations girls, very well played. In division 3, Poole Opals also had a good win against HSM, the girls went a good number of goals ahead and enjoyed the last quarter playing versatility. Across on the next court Poole Diamonds took the win against the Pearls 49-29 to retain their position at top of the table.

28/09/2012 – Wednesday Night Adult League

Poole Topazv Peeks

Well done to Poole Topaz, who beat Peeks last night in a closely contested match. It was end to end, with strong defending from the Peeks GK breaking the usual pace of the Topaz attack, forcing Topaz to adapt their play and importantly work the ball to make the final feed. The wind & the rain also slowed movement across the whole court, players were fighting to dominate without pace which meant dodging actions and smaller passes were the key to picking up the win. Topaz were eventually triumphant and took the game, winning by just 3 goals!!

27/09/2012 – Tuesday Night Adult League

A challenging week in the BNA League this week. In Premier Jewels faced an experianced Aquarians team – notorious for their success at local level; Aquarians played a very physical game, taking an early lead with ex National Prem shooter Caroline Leaton being on top form. The girls battled over an hour, with strong defence from Louise Cole and Georgia Ivey but the opposition was very aggressive and Aquarians took the win, moving the Jewels off the top spot!!

In Division 3, Poole Pearls had a bye and the Diamonds faced Poole Opals with no Abi Robason or Abba Atkin. Both teams equally wanting the win, took to the court as opponents should; going all out. Opals played a fantastic opening quarter, taking the lead 10-3!! After some considered changes the Diamonds kept their heads up, determined to claw it back. After 3 quarters the Opals kept a tight lead by 3 goals in what was a tense and exciting clash. Team talks were essential in keeping the players focused, both defence were working hard to prevent goals, but eventually Diamonds pulled through and took the game with a 6 goal win to retain the top spot. Well Done everyone.

22/09/2012 – Bournemouth Charity Tournament

Poole Pearls were winners of a local Charity tournament today.  This was held at Bournemouth School for Girls and a good time was had by all.  Although only four teams were entered everyone played each other twice. Games were 10 minutes each way. So after 6 games the Pearls were unbeaten.  It was a real squad performance. 2nd were HSS who are in the same league as the Pearls – who we lost to three weeks ago, it was very pleasing to reverse the result twice.  Well done to all the Pearls – a big thank you to Dawn – Team Manager – and Alison Jewel who stepped in to umpire.

19/09/2012 – Wednesday Night Adult League

Poole Topaz  v Mastertech     40 – 30 Win

Well Done to our Back To Netball Team Poole Topaz who won their first game of the season at league last night 40-30. Player of the match went to Andrea, although the defence unit as a whole were very strong throughout the game making turnover after turnover – improving all the time ladies!!

18/09/2012 – Tuesday Night Adult League

Poole Jewels  v Mazars     51 – 23 Win
Poole Pearls v B’mouth Ferns  47 – 15 Win
Poole Diamonds v HSS     43 – 20 Win

Another great night at League last night. Poole Jewels had an excellent win in Prem against Mazars; courtplay at times was faultless and some accurate shooting from Elisha Hill and Tabby Hellawell won us the game; 51-23. Poole Pearls also had a convincing win against Bournemouth Ferns 47-15. Poole Diamonds faced a physical HSS – who have a reputation for being difficult. Thanks to strong umpiring …from Nicki Hindmarch and Jenna Butler HSS were kept under absolute control which saw talent prevail and the Diamonds took their 3rd win out of 3, 43-20. Poole Opals kept their game tight and took it all the way eventually losing to Lunar by just 2 goals. Well Done to everyone, great effort, reflected by great results!!

17/09/2012 – South West Regional 2 League

Poole Regional Squad  v Almondsbury     52 – 57 Lost

Well done to our Poole Regional Team who played their first fixture away to Almondsbury on Saturday 15th Sept at Red Maids School Bristol. Injury to our GD and GK, meant we really had to scrap for 7 but the girls managed to compose themselves and courtplay was fluid. After a tight first quarter, winning 12-11, the girls found it much tougher going into the second and with the accuracy of the Almondbury shooting were down by 7 goals at half time; 23-30. The 3rd was a pivotal quarter for Poole – the score at the end of the quarter saw us trailing 36-45, however didn’t reflect the courtplay. Poole really were digging in as we entered the 4th quarter and our determination and attitude on the court was reflected by our score. The team won the 4th and pulled the acore back to 52-57; just left a little too much too do. Player of the match, WA – Sian Evans.

12/09/2012 – Tuesday Night Adult League

Back to last Tuesdays League matches, Poole Jewels took another win in Prem with a good score against Canford, Poole Diamonds were also on form with Saints conceeding the game at half time owed to the score being 40-2!! And Poole Opals faced Paulines Pearls in a very tight match. Opals were up most of the game but let slip in the last quarter & Poole Pearls eventually took the win!!

Well Done to our two little teams who battled in the heat against some top opposition yesterday at High Wycombe. Well done and thank you to all involved
